Actually, we have two winners.

But first, I thought it was close enough to Halloween to throw this theme up.  Besides, I’m tired of looking at ice cream.

Anyhoo, this morning I put the names of everyone who entered the Baby of a Giveaway Contest into a spreadsheet (because I’m all geeky like that), divided into those who preferred the boy sweaters, those who preferred the girl sweaters and those who would take either.  I printed them out and cut them into little individual pieces with a single name on each.  Then I put the names of those who preferred the boy sweaters and those who would take either and tossed them into the lid that covers a stack of blank CDs (again, because I’m all geeky like that…and I couldn’t find a hat).  (Please excuse the quality of the photos – I didn’t have my camera with me and my phone apparently takes crappy pictures.)

Names

I shook them all up, closed my eyes, reached in and grabbed one of the slips of paper.  The name that came out was…

boy_winner

Mama Badger!  Which is really fortuitous, because Mama Badger just gave birth to Littlest Badger Boy a little over a week ago.

Then I started the process all over again, and tossed the names of those who preferred the girl sweaters in with those who would take either, shook them all around, closed my eyes, reached in and grabbed another slip of paper.  The name on that one was…

Girl Winner

Amy @ Six Flower Mom!  Amy has a neighbor who is expecting any day now and since she didn’t say if they were expecting a boy or a girl, she got put in the “either” category and won the “girl” sweaters.

Congratulations Mama Badger and Amy @ Six Flower Mom!  I’ll be contacting you soon for your addresses.

No Random Tuesday Thoughts today; I simply haven’t had the time to put together a post of random thoughts (although the ones I have are pretty darn good).  Instead, I’m having a giveaway.

The Young One’s paternal grandmother is a wonderful woman.  Everyone should have a mother-in-law like her.   We became friends the moment we met, and have remained friends even though Good Ex and I are no longer together and he has since married and has a new baby.  Many women cast aside former daughters-in-law once they become former, but not Grandma J – she is a class act, and I love her to death.

For the last two years, she and Good Ex have driven The Young One home from Texas at the end of his summer vacation.  This time, while they were here, Grandma J – who loves to knit and crochet – was working on a baby sweater.  It was simply adorable, and I asked her what she was going to do with it.

“Oh, I give them to people I know are expecting or have a new baby, but most of them go to the local hospital, where they give them to the new mothers in the maternity ward,” she said.

I was just tickled and asked her how quickly she made them – you can imagine my surprise when she said often two or three a week.  “Oh, could you give me a couple to give away on my blog?” I asked her.  “Half my readers either have just had a baby, are going to have a baby, are trying to have a baby, or know someone who is.”

So she did.  Only she did a sight better than just a couple.

I am now in the possession of eight of the most darling hand-knitted baby sweaters, ranging in size from newborn to about 6 mos. size.  Four are blue, and four are pink, yellow and green.  I’m giving away a set of “boy” sweaters and a set of “girl” sweaters, so there will actually be two prizes.  All y’all have to do is leave a comment here – one entry for each comment, and you can comment as many times as you like.  In your comments, stipulate if you’d like the boy sweaters or the girl sweaters – but if you’ll take either set, let me know.

I’ll close the comments Friday, September 18 at 9 p.m. EDT, and announce the winners on Monday, September 21.
