You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out (and other assorted mayhem)
It has been a long darn week.
Beloved has been working long hours out of town. I’ve been working long hours in town. I DID get the car serviced this week (if you can call $190 for basically rotating the tires, an oil change and a lube job anything other than extortion), but the dog still needs to go to the vet for his checkup, the house needs some serious cleaning (to say nothing of the inside of the refrigerator *shudder*) and while I’ve sorta kinda started putting together a menu for the week-long food-orgy that begins Saturday, the shopping this will require is daunting to say the least. It’s enough to make you want to climb into a hole and pull a rock over you. Or at least go “Ack.”
ACK.
At least it’s Friday; I intend to get most of the housework done tonight so 1) Beloved can come home to a clean house and B) I don’t have to worry about it again at least until Sunday evening. Oldest Son and Darling Daughter get here Saturday evening, and then the festivities shall commence.
I just hope I have the energy for it all.
At any rate, I’ll be hanging around for the first part of next week, but intend to take Thursday – Sunday off from the whole bloggy thing. We don’t do Black Friday here (we spend enough time with stressed-out retailers), so once I’ve dropped Oldest Son off at the airport, I intend to spend the day after Thanksgiving sprawled on the sofa and pointing in the general direction of the refrigerator when anyone suggests food.
But before I end this bitchfest go, I leave you with this amusing rendition of my favorite Christmas movie, put together by my dear friend Trina and starring the Sushi Bar. Well, part of it, anyway. (You’ll have to refresh the page if for some odd reason you want to watch it more than once.)
Have a lovely weekend, y’all.

I’m tired just reading this… Hoping that you pull it all together without getting run down. You need to be able to enjoy your family too.

We are traveling from Wednesday through the weekend. Your Friday plans sound divine. xo
And love the video.

I’ve got a date tonight with my husband – but we are going to start with house cleaning. If he wants me to be in a good mood, he’ll bow to my wishes and dust the darn furniture.
Have a great time cleaning and shopping and visiting with family!
Beth´s last blog ..While it might look like I’m being all friendly…
I wish Beth’s husband would come help me clean at my house, I could use a really good duster. My kids are arriving on either Sunday or Monday, they haven’t decided as yet. There’s dog hair laying around downstairs about 2 inches thick from the one dog of my daughter’s who sheds copiously and continually. The muscle spasm in my back reminds me it’s still there so dragging out my Dyson to clean all 12 of our rooms just makes me want to get back into bed this morning. I may wait until they get here, and hire the grandkids to clean!
Loved the video!
Don’t do like I do and clean until you’re so exhausted that you can’t enjoy the visit. Have a great one Jan!

I love the video! Little man came running as soon as he heard it and watched it with me. He was quite amuzed with this too!
You have a long list of to do’s but how fun it will be when your kids are home. I am excited for you! I don’t do the black friday thing either…hell I don’t do shopping period…instead we will be going to a fish house parade which is a total blast…much more fun then shopping!
Have a great weekend my friend. Enjoy your kids! XXOO Lori

Yes, don’t go crazy on the cleaning; people really don’t notice much but the food and conversation on holidays anyway…or maybe I’m just saying that cuz I don’t want to face my own cleaning frenzy!
And good luck with all that food shopping! My younger daughter looked in the fridge yesterday and commented how there’s not much in there with just the two of us. But that changes next week when the troops are home…

That was a great video. I did watch it twice as Baby Boy wanted to see what I was giggling at, and no doubt I will show Top Ender this evening as a warning tht she will shoot her eye out.
Don’t stress too much on the cleaning, nobody will mind an inch or so of dust if the food is just right and Beloved will just be pleased to be back with you

You had to remind us all about the cleaning, huh? I was going to put off thinking about it until LG went to bed tonight. Maybe I’ll just put his fuzzy sleeper on early and let him “dust” as he plays tonight…
Good luck with your list of chores. And watch out for those Red Rider BB Guns. You know, the ones with a compass in the stock and a thing that tells time…

Wouldn’t you know we have the same favorite Christmas movie? Loved the Jib Jab version you put together. My favorite scene, I think, is the one where they are eating in the Chinese restaurant. Love when they chop the duck’s head off and love when the watiers sing the Christmas carol.
Wishing your cleaning and errand running go quickly and the feasting and family time is slow and enjoyable.

My “marathon” of cooking/cleaning/etc begins in about an hour and I don’t imagine it will end until sometime in January. I love the holidays and I can’t WAIT to have my two oldest home from college … but man, oh man, do the holidays wreak havoc on my arm. Ouch! Dreading that part of it already ……. Sigh! Enjoy your time with family. Don’t work too hard and make sure to eat a lot! : )

Do I really HAVE to???? ack!
OMG! I love it! You know one of the things I love best about you is that we share the same love of this movie. Have a great holiday Jan and by the way….I think you forgot to tell me what time dinner is on Thursday. *wink*

Don’t stress over the cleaning- really. I like to do mine in stages. Picking up, laundry. Then the vacuuming, then the dusting. Usually before you get to the vacuuming the place looks neater.
I love A Christmas Story. It’s one of my favorite movies. Even after all these years I still giggle at it. Great video!

ACK! Right back atcha!
I bet this is going to be such a WONDERFUL week for you! I love the description of what you’ll be doing on Black Friday…heh, heh! I won’t be out amongst the throngs of rabid shoppers, either. I might borrow a page from your book and take up my position on the couch, too!

What a fun video. I don’t know if this happened to you, but when I did one of those Jib-Jab Christmas cards with the bouncing elves last year, I seemed to crack up more at my own card than other people who had done the same thing because it looked so crazy seeing myself like that. How do you respond to this video? Does it make you laugh? Cry? Cringe? ROFLYAO?
Also, have a wonderful few days off the bloggy world as you slave over a hot stove on Thanksgiving.
