Here We Are – Take Us or Leave Us
When Jen handed out this week’s Spin Cycle assignment – Holiday Newsletters – I managed to laugh and groan at the same time (it was surprisingly easy to do). I’ve never liked those damn things. While others manage to make their lives at least sound interesting, I’m always at a loss at how to tart ours up without making the reader A) fall asleep in their eggnog or 2) feel the need to add something to their eggnog.
We lead incredibly boring lives simply are not that exciting.
Because, frankly, this is what our “Holiday Newsletter” would look like:
Dear Friends and Family,
It’s so hard to believe that a whole year has gone by! Mainly because the day-to-day drudgery doesn’t change much, but that’s okay. At least we know what to expect.
Beloved and I are so happy to report that in a world with a 50% divorce rate, we’re still happily married.
Yeah, yeah, we know – no one else would have us.
The children are all doing exceptionally well. It would be difficult to list all of their individual achievements in this letter, but to sum them all up:
No one is in jail.
Scooter turned 7 this fall and is still happy, hale and healthy. We remember to give him his heartworm medication every month.
Mostly.
Oops.
We’re thrilled to report that we spent the cold months in our winter home again this year.
Yes, we’re aware that it’s also our summer home.
The business is going strong; we haven’t had to fire, lay off or beat a single employee into submission all year. Yay!
Of course, the shining highlight of the year was the birth of our grandson, Little Guy, aka The Cutest Baby in the World, in August. I’ve enclosed 7,000 photos of him, and will be calling you later to ask what you think of each and every one.

Coincidentally our summer home is also our winter home, but since we live in Florida summer and winter tend to blur together.
