I Has a Resolve
This week’s Spin Cycle is all about New Year’s Resolutions.
It’s also an anniversary of sorts, because my very first post for the Spin Cycle was the New Year’s Resolution post for 2009. And, as with most New Year’s Resolutions, I did a so-so job. Sometimes I lived up to my resolution, but mostly and sometimes I didn’t. All I really know is I’m so glad I decided to participate in this weekly forum, if for no other reason than I met and became friends with Jen. A humorous and stubborn determined woman, she’s my kind of people.
At any rate, I was at a bit of a loss as to what to post this year for my resolution, until Beloved suggested I only make resolutions I can keep. So, that’s what I’ll do.
Ahem.
I resolve to support Beloved in his attempt to quit smoking this year. (Five days so far – let’s hear it for Beloved! Woo-hoo!)
I resolve to buy a pair of Skechers Shape Ups. (I can’t promise I’ll use them with any regularity, but I will buy a pair.)
I resolve to cook and eat lots of healthy foods. (And lots of unhealthy foods too, I’m sure…but we won’t talk about that.)
I resolve not to kill any of my kids. (So far, so good.)
I resolve to learn more about photography. (There’s something called Project365 over at Digital Photography School where you take a picture and publish it, either on your blog or somewhere like Flickr, every day for a year. I’m considering it…Beloved may kill me, but I am considering it.)
I resolve to participate in NaBloPoMo again one month in the coming year. (February works for me!)
I resolve to spoil my grandson rotten. (Done!)
I resolve to live through another year of menopause without committing murder. (Another given.)
I resolve not to Facebook or Twitter to excess. (Since both accounts have been terribly neglected – I just don’t have time to indulge in those and blog too – I think this resolution should be pretty easy.)
I resolve to love and adore my Beloved as much as he loves and adores me.
Now that is one resolution I know I can keep.
That’s a great list. I’ve always been interested in that 365 project on flickr… but it would be tough for me to pull off.
I bet you can do it.
Congrats to B for not smoking! It’s a tough one. I’m sure you are super supportive.

I love your resolves Jan! I love how realistic you stayed with these. Seriously, unless a person has experienced the lovely menopausal hell nightmare, cannot know how much getting through a year without committing murder, really is fitting. Is it okay if I steal this one for one of mine?

that he has quit that you will a great support as you were to me. I am going through a horrible time of wanting to smoke right now…ugh.
I think you should take part in that project365. What a thing to do for yourself since you are loving this photography of yours. I have watched people really blossom in their photo taking skills through this project. Plus it would be fun to see your pictures. And then we could make a trip to Ohio and you could take pictures of my little’s.
and I would let you spoil them rotten.

Jan I have a pair of Sketchers Shape ups and I wear them almost constantly! I love them! They actually had a unexpected benefit. I have or should say HAD Plantar fasciitis…within about 2 months…gone!
Just be careful until you get used to them…I tripped a little a first. It kind of feels a bit like walking in sand.
Take that picture a day challenge!

I just called your husband Beloved … heh!
So this is the thing … I have a pair of MJBs which is the shoe Skechers copied with their shape up shoes … I have lower back issues and they send my back into the worst spasms EVER – can’t wear them. Also? I really tried for the longest time ANYWAY and they didn’t do shit for “shaping up” so keep that in mind. You might be better off buying a new lens and walking around in regular sneakers taking photos.
PS Don’t you love my advice?
PPS Where is the resolution to come to the OC to meet me in 2010?

I love that you haven’t killed any of your kids yet, but there’s still time. And I love that you’re going to buy the Sketcher’s even if you don’t ever wear them. But I especially love that you vow to love and adore Beloved… although you did place a condition on it! ;-D

Great list to get the year started, but save your money on the Skechers. I bought mine a couple months ago, and they do NOTHING at all for you!
