RTT: Snow! Tongue! Video Games! Restaurants! No, I Can’t Get Any More Random Than That

It’s snowing here…again. We got between 12 and 15 inches last Friday and Saturday – a great deal less than my friends Stacy and Irish Gumbo got, but that’s a lot for this Texas girl. And they are saying we could get between another 6 and 12 inches by tomorrow.
Well, at least we’ve got heat now.

Beloved called me from California yesterday (where he is wearing short sleeved shirts, the fink) saying, “I had tongue for the first time today!”
“I don’t know whether I should be insulted by that statement or not,” I replied.
Oh, I kid – he ate it at a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant in Calexico. I informed him it is called linguas…unless, of course, you accept it from an Hispanic woman standing on a street corner, in which case it’s called grounds for divorce.

Oldest Son got me a video game called Plants Vs. Zombies for Christmas. I love it – it’s cute, it’s simple to learn (that doesn’t necessarily translate into “easy to play”) and you don’t have to use the keyboard at all (my biggest problem with a lot of computer games) – you just point and click with your mouse. I have played the game to death (I’ve beaten it 3 times), but I like it so much I turned around and bought it for Oldest Son, who is now sending me instant messages, while complaining about the weather, saying, “You know what I hate more than the rain? Zombies with screen doors.”
“Oh,” I said, “If you think that’s frustrating, I’ll have to send you this new game I found. It’s called World of Goo. It’s even more fun than Plants Vs. Zombies*.”
So I sent him the link to a review of World of Goo.
“Up there with Tetris and Lemmings, eh?” he said. “Damn game developers are worse than drug dealers. Because every week, the new stuff is stronger than last stuff.
“‘Dude, that Plants VS Zombies I sold you last week? That’s nothing, man. You gotta try this new World of Goo!’”
I love that kid.
*Yes, these are real games.

You may or may not recall that I did a review of an Italian restaurant called Zazios back in December. It’s a nice, upscale place situated in the Radisson Hotel in Kalamazoo, Michigan. We sat at the chef’s table and had a marvelous time – and the food was to die for.
You can only imagine my surprise when I saw that I was suddenly getting hits from their website. So I went there, and this is what I saw:
I am flattered beyond belief (to say nothing of flabbergasted) to have my blog acknowledged like this.

And on that note, I leave you with one of my most recent pictures for Project365. We had an extremely hard frost, and this is the sight I awoke to Monday morning – the sycamores outside our dining room window looked as if they’d grown a coat of white fur overnight.
